Now that the date of transplanting the bonsai is getting closer with the proximity of spring (always speaking in Spain and specifically in Madrid, but it applies to any region when the time comes to transplant a bonsai) it is time to prepare the material that we are going to need in these jobs.
In this article we are not going to talk about the tools, but about a product that we have been using for 3 years every time we transplant a bonsai and that gives us great results, it is the Worm Roots.
What is Worm Roots?
It is a product developed by the Spanish company Grupo Iñesta, specialists in fertilizers and which is a delight for the roots of our bonsai.
Worm Roots promotes root development and the growth of secondary roots, something that is very interesting in bonsai.
Lombrico Raíces contains organic matter and polysaccharides, which contributes to improving the physical characteristics of the soil and the growth of beneficial microorganisms for the plant.
This product is a great advance in bonsai since, in addition to being a root stimulant, it acts in all phases of tree development.
What is the composition of Lombrico Raíces?
Among its main ingredients we can highlight:
- Vegetable extracts
- Polysaccharides
- Seaweed extract
It has a composition of:
- Nitrogen: 1.9%
- Amino acids: 6%
- pH: 7.2
How is Lombrico Raíces applied?
Lombrico Raíces is applied in irrigation, diluting 3ML per 1L of water.
The brand usually recommends making 2-3 applications of Lombrico Raíces with an interval of 10 days, especially after root pruning and if we have any rooting problems.
Since we have been applying Lombrico Raíces in transplants, the result is spectacular in terms of the amount of fine roots that the tree develops.
And after the transplant, do we continue to apply Worm Roots?
The answer to this question is yes. It is not a unique product to apply when we can root, although it is essential for us after these jobs.
How we apply it is, for 1 month and every 10 days, we water with Lombrico Raíces mixed with Lombrico Escudo. Once the month has passed, we normally begin to apply it once a month because we will combine it with Lombrico Primavera and other organic pellet fertilizers.
